Medical Devices Case Study:

DeVilbiss VacuAide & Laerdal LCSUIII

OVERVIEW

To assist patients in emergency response or home care settings, DeVilbiss required a portable fluid suction device capable of removing fluids from the airway or respiratory support system, as well as removing infectious materials from wounds.

OUTCOME

By performing extensive user research and foam-core prototyping, Bally Design created a device that creates a vacuum that draws fluids through disposable tubing into a sealed, one-time use collection cansiter for the Laerdal Emergency Medical Services (EMS) version and a dishwasher-safe reusable canister for the DeVilbiss home care version.
