Fischione Instruments, a designer and manufacturer of laboratory equipment used for microscopy and nanotechnology, looked to partner with a design firm to rebrand its transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging device.

OUTCOME

Through extensive concept explorations and user research, Bally Design assisted with the new Model 1051 TEM Mill’s enclosure design, incorporating a touch screen interface, and providing better ergonomics for all human interactions. The design also allows easy access to internal components for routine cleaning. Aesthetically, the equipment was updated with a sleek, modern look while maintaining a family resemblance to other Fischione products preserving a consistent visual brand language.

The device is used to create the thin, electron transparent specimens needed for TEM imaging and analysis to study many of today’s advanced material structure and properties.
